The OL Blog

Thank you to everyone who has made me feel welcomed in my new role at ICC.  The last few months have been hectic and confusing, but I believe we’re on our way to a very productive and meaningful year.  For those of you who don’t know me, I have been an educator for twenty-nine years as a teacher, coach, director, principal, and adjunct professor.  I love problem-solving, analyzing, building programs, collaborating, and most of all, I love helping people grow and feel empowered.

What I don’t love is dawdling.  So, I’ll get the point and outline two significant changes.

The Organizational Learning website will visibly change and include a blog, needs assessment, training-video library, pages dedicated to employee recognition, updates from committees and strategic teams, on-boarding information, and Celebration of Learning details.  These changes are being made so that all employees can easily share their thoughts regarding professional growth, gain access to quick and relevant training, and stay knowledgeable about college-wide initiatives.

The blog will remain on the landing page and direct you to new information, so you won’t have to hunt to find updates.  The website renovation will happen incrementally with the Employee Recognition/Awards and New Employees pages being launched by mid-November.  The Celebration of Learning will follow sometime before January, and the Professional Development/Training page will tentatively launch after the first of the year.

The professional development offered is the second significant change.  All professional development originating from Organizational Learning will focus on institutional goalsAcademic Affairs will provide training that pertains to academia and the classroom.  For example, Academic Affairs will offer training opportunities on OER, Blackboard, student engagement, etc., and Organizational Learning will be responsible for the broader topics such as diversity, leadership, autism/disabilities, security, Title IX, mentoring, etc. Both departments will combine their efforts and resources to provide professional development to all employees based on institutional goals and individual needs.

With that in mind, the link to the employee needs assessment found below will be accessible to all employees throughout the year and can be completed multiple times.  Please, be heard and let me know what you need.  I will build programs based upon your feedback and share the overall results of the assessment in my blog.

I am genuinely excited about what we can accomplish this year and look forward to working with you.

Thank you.
